The Plein Air Podcasts

Plein Air’s people have hosted or appeared on a run of podcasts over the last several years, and
the back catalogue is more interesting than a single show would suggest.

Real Famous

Paul McEnany’s earliest show, and the one furthest from restaurants. Real Famous is an
ad-industry interview programme about how brands become popular, with guests from both the agency
and client side. It predates the restaurant-specific shows, and it is the clearest signal of where
the thinking came from — the questions are about fame and attention generally, not about
foodservice.

Available on Apple Podcasts.

Tastemakers

The restaurant-focused successor, interviewing operators and marketers in the industry. Now
archived, with the back catalogue on ListenNotes.

Fries & Grind

The current show. Episode 8 features Niko Papademetriou; the
Libsyn feed is the most complete
episode list, and there is a site and an
Apple Podcasts listing.

Why three shows rather than one

Running a podcast is a common agency tactic and usually a short-lived one — the first ten episodes
are easy and the next fifty are not. Three shows across roughly a decade, each narrowing its focus,
reads less like content marketing and more like a habit: general advertising, then restaurant
marketing, then the current operator-facing show.

The narrowing is the interesting part. It tracks the same move the business made — from a
general-practice agency to a restaurant technology platform.
